HubSpot integration
HubSpot integration setup
This guide covers installing the Finterest HubSpot integration, what the connection can access, what happens on first sync, and how to run a manual sync or disconnect.
Prerequisites
- A Finterest account. Create one before connecting HubSpot.
- A HubSpot user with permission to install apps and to read and write CRM contacts and deals. In most portals this is an admin.
Install and connect
- In Finterest, open Settings and go to Integrations.
- Select HubSpot, then Connect.
- You are redirected to HubSpot. Sign in and choose the account you want to connect.
- HubSpot shows a consent screen listing the access Finterest is requesting. Review it and click Connect app to approve.
- You are returned to Finterest, where HubSpot shows as connected. Connecting records the link only, so nothing has synced yet: run the first sync from the HubSpot card in Settings.
Note: HubSpot controls how permissions appear on the consent screen, so the number of items listed there may not match one-to-one with the scopes described below. Approve the screen as shown to complete the connection.
What the connection can access
- Contacts: read and write. Finterest reads existing contacts so it can match records instead of creating duplicates, and creates or updates contacts when you push a lead.
- Deals: write only. Finterest creates a deal when a contact becomes qualified. It does not read your deals.
- No financial data. Finterest does not read your deals and does not touch companies, tickets, or any other CRM object. The only deal it writes is the one it creates for a qualified contact, and that deal is opened with a zero amount, so no financial figure comes from Finterest.
First sync
Connecting your account does not sync anything on its own. Once HubSpot shows as connected, run the first sync yourself from the HubSpot card in Settings, Integrations. That run does two things: it pushes the leads waiting in Finterest, and it imports your existing HubSpot contacts so Finterest can match against them and avoid creating duplicates. On a new or empty portal it finishes quickly; on a large portal it takes longer.
After that, a daily automatic pull brings changes made in HubSpot back into Finterest. It is on by default, and you are notified only when it actually pulled something.
Manual sync
You can run a sync at any time from the HubSpot card in Settings, Integrations, using Sync Now. It pushes the leads waiting in Finterest and re-pulls your HubSpot contacts in the same run, then reports how many records were pushed and pulled. Use it when you have just made changes in HubSpot and want Finterest to pick them up without waiting for the next daily pull.
How contacts and deals are created
When you push a lead from Finterest, the matching contact is created or updated in HubSpot. When a contact reaches qualified status in Finterest, Finterest creates a deal named after that contact in your default pipeline, at the Qualified to buy stage, and associates the deal with the contact.
Disconnect
- In Finterest, open Settings, Integrations, select HubSpot, and choose Disconnect.
- You can also remove Finterest from HubSpot under connected apps in your HubSpot account settings.
- Disconnecting stops all sync. Contacts and deals already created in HubSpot remain in HubSpot.
Troubleshooting
- Sync is not running. Confirm HubSpot still shows as connected in Settings, Integrations. If the connection was revoked in HubSpot, reconnect it. If it shows connected, run a manual sync. If it still does not run, contact support below.
- A deal did not appear. A deal is only created once a contact reaches qualified status. Check that the contact is qualified in Finterest and that it was pushed to HubSpot. If the contact is present in HubSpot but no deal was created, run a manual sync, then contact support.
